2010 年 1 月 7 日,NBC 告訴 O'Brien 補救方案:Leno 回到 11:35,《The Tonight Show》延後到 12:05。1 月 12 日,O'Brien 以一份致「地球同胞」(People of Earth)的聲明回應:12:05 的《The Tonight Show》根本不是《The Tonight Show》,他無法參與他真心認為是對該節目的摧毀。
《紐約時報》的 Bill Carter 在同一年出版了《The War for Late Night》——Viking,2010 年 11 月——他與足夠多的參與者談過,以至於《New York Magazine》稱該記述包含重建的對話與對白;《BusinessWeek》稱他是 11:35 時段的 Bob Woodward。
