Cotton On's Singapore Asia hub winds down — the holding company is liquidated

Cotton On was founded in Geelong, Australia, in 1991 and opened its first Singapore store at Wisma Atria in 2007. Singapore became the beachhead for Asia — stores in Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia followed — and in 2014 the group established its Asia headquarters in Singapore with more than 90 team members. By 2026 it ran five brands in the country, Cotton On, Cotton On Body, Cotton On Kids, Typo and Rubi, with over 30 stores listed on its website.

In March 2026 the structure was redrawn. Cotton On Singapore was placed directly under the group's principal operating company, Cotton On International Pty Ltd, and the intermediary holding company Cotton On Asia Pte Ltd became redundant. After an extraordinary general meeting by video call on 25 March, a Government Gazette notice on 30 March placed it under members' voluntary liquidation. Cotton On called reports of an exit 'misleading': the liquidated entity, it said, was 'an inactive holding company that was no longer required', with no impact on stores, staff or suppliers in Asia.

The shrink continued anyway. By 2 July 2026 the Velocity @ Novena Square store was shuttered and the NEX outlet was about to close, both on expired leases, with the company 'exploring new opportunities'. That left 27 Singapore stores under Cotton On, Cotton On Body and Cotton On Kids — down from the more than 30 the group listed in March across five brands.
