In January 2020 VARIDESK recalled its Stand2Learn adjustable-height stools, designed for students of any age, because the foot support was improperly welded and could break, posing a fall hazard. The recall, CPSC number 20054, covered about 4,700 units sold in the United States and about 300 sold in Canada.

The stools stood 19 to 33 inches tall, with gray steel frames, black padded seats, four stabilising cross-bars and adjustable footpads; model 42058 was printed under the seat. They sold for about $95 from June 2018 through November 2019 on Varidesk.com, Schoolspecialty.com, Wayfair.com and Amazon.com, through corporate sales and third-party resellers.

Consumers were told to stop using the stools immediately and contact VARIDESK for a full refund — no repair or replacement was offered. The company ran a toll-free line weekdays and a support page for claims.

About 4,700 stools sold June 2018–November 2019 at about $95 recalled, plus about 300 in Canada, all refunded.

The weld on the foot support — the part students push against — was improperly made and could fail under use.

The stool’s whole purpose is standing children leaning and shifting, so a breaking support is a direct fall hazard.

The product reached mass-market channels, Amazon and Wayfair among them, widening exposure across two countries.

The company chose refund over repair, acknowledging the defect was in the manufactured frame itself.

A classroom product for children gets weld-level scrutiny: one bad joint across a production run converts a whole SKU into refunds.

The recall was announced on 23 January 2020 under CPSC recall 20054, with full refunds as the remedy and no injuries cited in the notice. The stools were made in Taiwan. VARIDESK, since rebranded as Vari, continued selling standing-desk furniture for offices and schools.
