On 31 August 2023 TOMY International, Health Canada and the US CPSC announced a recall of Boon Flair and Flair Elite high chairs manufactured before September 2016. The bolts used to secure the seat to the pedestal base can become loose and allow the seat to detach, posing a fall hazard. As of 24 August 2023 the company had received no incident reports in Canada, but 34 in the United States, including 11 reports of injuries.

The recall covered 17 model numbers sold in Canada from January 2012 to September 2017 (2,858 units) and about 83,000 in the United States. TOMY told owners to stop using the chairs immediately and request a free repair kit — a set of bolts plus split and flat washers. If the production-code sticker under the base was missing or illegible, the company said to assume the chair was included, 'in an abundance of caution'.

2,858 chairs sold in Canada and about 83,000 in the US (2012–2017) recalled; 11 US injury reports; free repair kits with new bolts and washers.

The bolted seat-to-pedestal joint loosens through years of use, so the hazard surfaced long after the 2012–2017 sales window.

Eleven of the 34 US incident reports involved injuries — children falling with a detaching seat.

Canada recorded no incidents while the US counted 34, but the free-repair program had to cover the installed base in both markets.

A joint that carries a wiggling child works loose over years, so a high chair needs a failure mode owners can service — recalling seven-year-old stock only reaches the owners who still respond.

Owners were directed to a recall site for free bolt-and-washer repair kits rather than refunds, and the joint recall covered chairs sold from January 2012 to September 2017. No incidents were on record in Canada at the announcement; no further counts were published in the notice.
