What happened
Pacearth Direct, of City of Industry, California, recalled about 110,550 PACEARTH U-type swing seats on October 8, 2026, because the seats, their metal carabiners or quick links, or the included webbing straps could break during use, posing a serious fall-injury risk. The seats — sold singly or in packs of two, in green, blue, pink, red and turquoise, with yellow plastic-coated chain — were sold on Amazon.com from May 2017 through June 2026 for between $27 and $57, and were made in China.
The company has received at least 30 reports of falls, resulting in at least nine injuries, including fractures, head injuries and bruising. The CPSC recall asks consumers to stop using the swings immediately and claim a full refund from Pacearth Direct by email — after writing 'RECALLED' on the seat in permanent marker and photographing it with the PACEARTH logo visible.
The recall (CPSC number 27-019) covers the entire nine-year sales window rather than a single production run, and the failure mode is spread across three components — seat, connectors and straps — rather than isolated to one part. Pacearth Direct is handling the remedy directly by email at recall@pacearth.com; there is no repair or replacement option, only a refund.
What it cost
About 110,550 units recalled across nine years of Amazon sales, with full refunds offered and at least nine injuries — fractures, head injuries and bruising — on record.
Why it happened
The hazard was not one defect but any of three components breaking in use — seat, carabiners or quick links, and webbing straps — pointing to component testing that never matched real swinging loads.
Falls were reported at least 30 times with nine people injured before the recall, meaning the product stayed on sale through the injury reports.
The recall reaches back across the full 2017–2026 Amazon sales window, so there is no 'fixed in a later batch' defense — the design shipped unchanged for nine years.
The lesson
A cheap component is load-bearing somewhere: when the carabiner, the webbing or the seat can each be the failure point, quality control has to test all three.
Aftermath
Consumers are told to stop using the swings immediately and email recall@pacearth.com for a full refund after marking and photographing the seat. The recall is registered with the CPSC as number 27-019, and the remedy is refund-only — no replacement parts are offered. The listing remains a data point in the longer pattern of Amazon-marketplace product recalls overseen by the CPSC.
