Stalric is a leather-goods group in Languedoc-Roussillon built by Gérard Stalric, a businessman and former USC XV rugby leader who died in 2024 aged 86. Its Narbonne city-centre store had traded in the galerie des Barques on the cours de la République for nearly 20 years, alongside a Mango clothing store in the same gallery.
In June 2026 the group, whose HR director Daniel Ballester spoke for it, announced the definitive closure of both shops. The reasons given: the Narbonne city centre was poorly frequented, the first half of the year had been heavy, Covid had taken a toll, and the clothing side faced Chinese competitors selling at derisory prices. The team said it had held on as long as possible and had tried to sell the business for over a year.
The closure put six people out of work — one at Stalric, five at Mango. A destocking sale ran until the stock was gone, with the Stalric store due to close around mid-August and the Mango store on 31 August. The group kept its other operations: about 60 remaining employees, three maroquineries in Carcassonne, and further shops in Balaruc-les-Bains, Saint-Clément-de-Rivière and Perpignan, plus an online store.
Closed both shops after a year-long failed sale, costing six jobs, when footfall never recovered and Chinese rivals undercut prices.
