What happened
On September 17, 2026, JKMAX recalled all of its heated blankets and heating pads — about 195,000 units — because the internal wire heating elements can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. The recall covers models JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B and JKMAX-8490B, sold in one- and two-packs on Amazon.com from September 2022 through July 2026.
The incident record is the striking part: JKMAX was aware of 577 reports of blankets smoking, melting or burning due to overheating elements, including 53 burn injuries. The polyester, machine-washable blankets and pads all share the same design: a detachable white remote for heat adjustment, sold in multiple sizes and colors.
The importer of record is Jiande Pengshuai Trading Co., Ltd, of China. Consumers were told to stop using the products immediately and contact JKMAX for a full refund.
What it cost
Full refunds across about 195,000 units sold on Amazon from September 2022 through July 2026.
Why it happened
577 incident reports accumulated before the recall — the failure mode was documented, not hypothetical.
Fifty-three people were burned by a product that stayed on sale for nearly four years.
A model lineup that all shares one wire-heating design means one defect recalls the entire range, not a batch.
The lesson
A heating product is a fire product: 577 incident reports before the recall means the safety case had collapsed long before the plug was pulled.
Aftermath
The recall notice directs consumers to stop use immediately and request full refunds, with the model number printed on the back of the remote and on the packaging label.
