Joyin's Sloosh dive sticks: 404,000 sold past the federal ban's limit
Too stiff: they exceed the compress limit, so a child who falls on one risks impalement. 254,000 recalled in June, expanded to 404,000 in July.

What happened
Joyin US Corp. sold Sloosh dive sticks — models 40041, 40003 and 16154 — at $10 to $22 on Amazon, Temu, Wayfair, Target and SHEIN, some models since January 2017.
The sticks exceed the federal ban's compress limit: in shallow water a child who falls or lands on one risks impalement, with facial and eye injuries possible underwater. The CPSC recalled 254,000 on June 11, 2026, and expanded to about 404,000 on July 30.
The remedy is replacement with redesigned sticks that meet the regulation — after the owner disposes of the old ones and emails a photo of them in the trash. The ban existed because this injury already had a history; the sticks shipped anyway for nine years.
