Yamaha fleet golf cars: a brake cable routed wrong on the assembly line

Passenger-side brake cables misrouted in assembly can wear and snap — crash risk in 2021-2022 fleet golf cars. Free dealer inspection from Jun 2026.

What happened

Yamaha recalled model-year 2021-2022 fleet golf cars on June 16, 2026 — the passenger-side brake cable may have been misrouted during assembly, wearing out and breaking in use, which raises the crash risk. The cars sold from 2021 through 2024.

Owners stop use and contact an authorized Yamaha dealer for a free inspection and repair; no injuries were reported.

A brake cable that was never routed right — the failure was installed, not developed.

Why it happened

  • Passenger-side brake cable misrouted in assembly — wears and snaps, crash risk; MY 2021-2022 fleet golf cars sold 2021-2024; free dealer inspection and repair
  • The cable wore exactly where the misroute bent it — the failure point was drawn on the assembly diagram
  • A fleet car's brake is a business asset — every snapped cable is a cart out of service

The lesson

An assembly error is a design decision that happened on the line. The misrouted cable wears at the bend the routing made — and the fleet-wide inspection answers for every unit it touched.
