Rola built STUDIO R330 in Los Angeles — when she moved home, the brand ended

Launched June 2020 by model Rola from Los Angeles as a sustainable lifestyle brand, STUDIO R330 ends at the close of July 2026 after her return to Japan.

What happened

Model Rola launched STUDIO R330 in June 2020 from Los Angeles — a lifestyle brand 'kind to both the earth and people,' built on sustainable collections and collaborations with makers like SAITEX, the sustainable denim factory in Vietnam, and Japan's KURO. Sales ran through the brand's own online store.

In 2026 Rola left Los Angeles and returned to Japan to start a new life closer to nature. After repeated discussions with her LA team about where each of them was headed and what they wanted to make, they decided it was time to move on separate paths: STUDIO R330 ends at the close of July 2026, in its sixth year, and the official online store closes the same day.

The farewell, announced on her Instagram, framed the ending as closing one precious chapter — the people and experiences of STUDIO R330, she said, were the roots that would support her life going forward. A farewell sale ran ahead of the closure; no successor business was announced, though she said she hoped to meet everyone again on a new journey.

Why it happened

  • The brand was Rola's Los Angeles life made into product; her move to Japan removed its centre of gravity.
  • The team sat in LA — once the founder's direction changed, the paths split rather than stretched across an ocean.
  • They chose a clean end while the brand was still loved, rather than letting it drift without its founder.

The lesson

A brand anchored to its founder's city and convictions: when Rola left Los Angeles for Japan, STUDIO R330 — her sustainable lifestyle label — closed six years in, online store and all.

Aftermath

The official online store closes at the end of July 2026. Sports-press coverage of her announcement said Rola was preparing a new brand from her new base in Japan, but nothing was launched as of the closure.
