SAZABY LEAGUE relaunched House of Lotus in 2016 — ten years on, it is closing it

Restarted under SAZABY LEAGUE in 2016 with Karen Kirishima as creative director, House of Lotus ends its business on 31 March 2026, no reason given.

What happened

House of Lotus is a Japanese lifestyle-fashion brand built on the concept 'Happiness of Life' — essential luxury, richness and the happiness of wearing clothes. Restarted in 2016 under SAZABY LEAGUE with model and actress Karen Kirishima as creative director, it ran through the group's 100%-owned subsidiary Far East Company.

The relaunch lasted ten years. On 25 February 2026 SAZABY LEAGUE announced the end of the House of Lotus business: operations would finish with the closure of the official EC site on 31 March 2026. The announcement gave no business reason for the decision — only thanks to customers for their patronage.

The channels had already been narrowing before the end: ELLE SHOP stopped carrying the brand on 10 February 2026. By the time of the announcement the online store was what remained — and the brand ended with it.

Why it happened

  • The relaunch never secured a footing strong enough to keep: ten years on, the group chose to end it.
  • The channels were shrinking — once the online store went, there was nothing left to run.
  • No reason was given; as with other closures in this wave, the economics went unspoken.

The lesson

A relaunch buys time, not a future: SAZABY LEAGUE restarted House of Lotus in 2016 around a 'Happiness of Life' concept and a creative director, and closed it ten years later without giving a reason.

Aftermath

Far East Company ends House of Lotus operations with the EC site closure on 31 March 2026. SAZABY LEAGUE continues with its other brands; no revival of House of Lotus was announced.
