What happened

Hash Company recalled SWIM PLAYING 4, an inflatable children's water toy, in Korea on July 23, 2026 — the white synthetic-resin handle carries phthalates at 20.177% (DEHP 17.978%, DINP 2.199%), 201.7 times the 0.1% total limit.

The toy also shipped without the required labelling — weight range, safety precautions and dimensions — so the child it fits is a guess. No accident was reported; the exposure risks liver and kidney damage. Owners stop use and contact Hash Company for repair, exchange or refund.

A float a child grips for hours, with the softener a fifth of the handle.

Why it happened

  • Phthalates 201.7x the limit in the handle a child grips — DEHP 17.978%, DINP 2.199%; Korea recall Jul 23, 2026
  • Weight range, precautions and dimensions never printed — the toy omits the one page that says who may float on it
  • No accident reported — the cost is the grip itself, measured in percent

The lesson

A water toy is gripped, chewed and dragged by the handle all afternoon — the part a child holds longest carried a fifth of banned softener and no label saying who it fits.
