HERC figure-8 swim tube: buckle and seams that let go mid-water
Goeun's HERC tube buckle measured 36N against 50N and the chambers leaked under the air test. Korea ordered recall 23 Jul 2026; stop use, exchange or refund.

What happened
Goeun Living recalled the HERC figure-8 tube, a wear-type swimming aid imported from China, in Korea on July 23, 2026, under a collection-and-exchange order — the buckle held 36N against a 50N minimum, and the air chambers leaked under the alternating-inflation durability test.
A swim aid that unbuckles or deflates mid-water converts a learner's confidence into the accident itself. No accident was reported; owners stop use and contact Goeun Living for repair, exchange or refund.
It was among the 53 products KATS ordered recalled that day after testing 1,117 summer goods — surveillance found the tube by measuring, not by accident.
Why it happened
- Buckle 36N vs 50N minimum; chambers leaked under the air test — Korea ordered recall Jul 23, 2026; stop use, exchange or refund
- A child's swim aid is a contract written in newtons — the buckle and the seam are the whole product
- Certified May 2024, recalled Jul 2026 — market testing caught what the certification sample never showed
The lesson
Certification tests the sample; surveillance tests the product. The gap between them is where a buckle that holds 36N ships inside a standard that asks 50.
