What happened
EcoFlow, the Shenzhen portable-power brand, sold the Delta Max 2000 (EFD310) in the US at about $1,600 through Costco, Amazon and its own site from July 2022 to May 2025 — a 2-kWh battery box for blackouts and campsites.
The power station may overheat and ignite. Six caught fire, with more than $850,000 in property damage. On October 9, 2025, the CPSC recalled about 25,030 units; the remedy is a repair by free firmware update.
In Japan, EcoFlow units kept appearing in the Consumer Affairs Agency's accident log into 2026 while the exchange ran. A product sold as the safe heart of an emergency kit asked its owners to download the fix for the fire.
Why it happened
- Six Delta Max 2000 units caught fire and did over $850,000 in damage — the CPSC remedy is a free firmware update, which says the fire lived in the software's charge curve
- A portable power station is bought for the moment the grid fails — the one product that must work when nothing else does carried its own ignition risk
