Daikin's Amana units: a heating element that stays live through a fault
Daikin recalled about 13,514 Amana air conditioners and heat pumps because a heating element could stay energized during a ground fault, risking fire and burns.

What happened
During a ground fault, the heating element in some Amana through-the-wall air conditioners and window units could remain energized even after being turned off, posing a risk of fire or burn injury.
Daikin Comfort Technologies, the importer, received one report of plastic on a unit melting. The 11 affected models had been sold nationwide for between $850 and $1,500 from April 2025 through December 2025.
About 13,514 units were recalled in the US and a further 53 in Canada. A safety feature that was supposed to cut power during a fault instead let the heater keep running, and it was caught only after a unit began to melt.
