Beams ends B:MING, its 14-year family label — BEAMS HEART takes the space

Launched in 2012 as Beams' label for families, B:MING ends in January 2026; the company refits its outlet label BEAMS HEART to take over the space.

What happened

B:MING by BEAMS started in 2012 as Beams' family-oriented lifestyle label — men's and women's wear from casual to business, kids and baby items, and lifestyle goods, carrying the select-shop name to a wider audience than the mainline brand.

On 5 January 2026 Beams announced the label would end, with direct-operated stores closing sequentially and no reason given — only thanks to customers for years of support. The ending sat inside the company's 50th-anniversary overhaul: alongside a Los Angeles store and a resale service, Beams announced that BEAMS HEART, its outlet and EC label, would be refreshed into a lifestyle shop aimed at 25-to-35-year-olds, with the first store at Kuzuha Mall on 3 March 2026 and ten stores planned for the spring.

The family label was not so much failed as replaced — a cheaper, younger concept wearing a different name. The president framed BEAMS HEART as a business focused on lifestyle trends rather than fashion.

Why it happened

  • The family segment B:MING served would be re-covered by the refreshed BEAMS HEART; the company chose consolidation over duplication.
  • The 50th-anniversary reorganisation favoured overseas expansion and new concepts over keeping a mid-tier domestic label.
  • No performance reason was given; the label ended as portfolio arithmetic.

The lesson

In a portfolio overhaul, the middle goes first: Beams closed its 14-year family label B:MING and rebuilt the space with BEAMS HEART — a cheaper, younger lifestyle shop — as the 50th-anniversary reset.

Aftermath

B:MING stores close sequentially from January 2026. BEAMS HEART opens its first new-format store at Kuzuha Mall on 3 March 2026, with ten stores planned for spring 2026.
