Bogner's Korean operator filed for rehabilitation — and never filed a plan

Bogner's Korean operator filed for rehabilitation in April 2025. In June 2026 the court closed the case: no plan was ever submitted.

What happened

Vogue International brought the German premium golf brand Bogner to Korea in 2002 and ran it for more than twenty years, riding the country's golf boom to about ₩50 billion in sales in 2022. The company sits under Gukbo, a listed logistics firm.

The boom deflated. Consumption contracted and the golfwear market entered structural adjustment — rival JDX's operator Shinhan Korea had already applied for rehabilitation in March 2025. On 1 April 2025 Vogue International followed it into the Seoul Rehabilitation Court, which issued a comprehensive prohibition order on creditors the next day (case 2025-heohap-151). The company said it had already begun rationalization — diversifying distribution, cutting fixed costs — and would rebuild under court supervision.

The rebuild never got written down. The deadline for a rehabilitation plan was extended once; then, on 16 June 2026, the court abolished the proceedings under Article 286(1)(1) of the Debtor Rehabilitation and Bankruptcy Act, because no plan had been submitted within the designated or extended period. Fourteen months of court protection ended without a proposal on the table.

Why it happened

  • Premium golfwear priced for boom-year demand met a market that had shrunk beneath it.
  • Filing bought time but the company could not assemble a viable repayment plan — the rationalization measures were not enough to anchor one.
  • With the sector's number two already in court, suppliers, landlords and the parent had little appetite to fund a premium-license revival.

The lesson

Court protection buys time, not a plan. Bogner's operator got fourteen months of it and produced nothing — the proceedings were abolished and the company was left without shelter.

Aftermath

With the rehabilitation proceedings abolished on 16 June 2026, Vogue International lost its court protection; the Bogner brand's Korean operation faced an uncertain future. Korea's golfwear market kept consolidating, with smaller brands exiting and larger groups taking share.
