Vichy recalled every batch of its Peptide-C ampoules after 23 laceration reports

In July 2022 Vichy Canada recalled every batch of LiftActiv Peptide-C 1.8 ml ampoules, a serum packaged in sterile single-use glass ampoules. Health Canada's notice said the glass can become brittle over time and under varying storage conditions, which 'does not ensure their safe opening' and presents a laceration risk. As of 27 June 2022 the company had received 23 reports of incidents in Canada.

The recall covered four UPCs, including 10-packs, sample ampoules and 2021 holiday gift boxes — 752,110 units sold in Canada from March 2020 to May 2022, manufactured in France by Cosmétique Active Internationale. Consumers were told to stop using the product immediately and to contact Vichy Canada for return and refund options; Health Canada noted the Food and Drugs Act prohibits selling cosmetics made with hazardous substances.

Brittleness developed after sale, under ordinary storage, so the defect reached every batch rather than one production run.

Twenty-three incident reports had accumulated before the recall covered the entire product line, gift sets included.

Packaging stability has to be tested across the whole shelf life: a single-dose glass format is only as safe as the ampoule it ships in, and an all-batches recall leaves no batch-level escape route.

The notice asked consumers to stop using the ampoules immediately and to contact Vichy Canada for product return and refund options; the alert remains posted as identification number RA-64358. No injury counts beyond the 23 Canadian incident reports were published, and Health Canada directed further cases to its consumer product incident report form.
