Tailanisi's elevator 'gift your boss' shoe ad was mocked as parental anxiety
Kids-shoe brand Tailanisi ran an elevator ad urging parents to gift shoes to a colleague '王姐'; viewers called it 硬蹭职场送礼 and manipulation of parental anxiety.

What happened
In May 2026 kids-shoe brand Tailanisi ran an elevator ad built around workplace gift-giving: a woman hands a black shoe card to a colleague '王姐' with the voiceover '工作上承蒙您照顾,宝宝小脚我来照顾' and the slogan '送泰兰尼斯,稳稳好礼,稳稳心意'. The brand's customer service confirmed on May 13 that it was an official ad.
Viewers called it 硬蹭职场送礼 (forcing a workplace-gift angle), accused it of 拿捏家长焦虑 (exploiting parental anxiety) and 冒犯女性, and said it reduced a child-health product to a bribe. The shoe-card annual membership had already ended, and there was no official response by the time 南方都市报 reported.
The optics were sharp because the pricing was aggressive: a 稳稳鞋 costs 500-800 yuan and the flagship 稳跑鞋MAX retails at 1,789 yuan, yet only about 5% of SKUs sit above 1,000 yuan and those contribute just 0.28% of revenue; one children's sandal cost 37.8 yuan to make and sold for 179 yuan.
Why it happened
- Workplace-gift framing turns a kids'-shoe product into a favour to an adult colleague, which reads as calculated and 冒犯女性.
- Anxiety is not a value proposition: a 500-800-yuan shoe leaning on 'your child's feet are my concern' uses guilt, not quality.
- The price gap did the damage: a shoe costing 37.8 yuan to make sold for 179 yuan, and the '童鞋界爱马仕' positioning made the gift ad look like a margin play.
- Silence locked the narrative: with the card programme already ended and no official statement, the brand let the gift angle stand as its only story.
The lesson
When a child's product is honest, it needs no workplace-gift plot. Framing a premium kids' shoe as a favour to a colleague reads as pandering, and silence after the backlash lets that reading stand.
