Pull&Bear spent 20 years in Singapore — Inditex ended it with one store left

Pull&Bear entered Singapore in 2006 and peaked at four stores. One by one they went; on 22 February 2026 Inditex closed the last, at VivoCity, and exited.

What happened

Pull&Bear, one of Inditex's seven core fashion brands, entered Singapore in 2006 with a flagship at VivoCity, part of the Spanish group's Asian expansion. At its peak the brand ran four stores on the island, at locations including Bugis+, ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City.

The footprint shrank store by store — Bugis+ and ION Orchard went first, the Bugis+ unit later becoming Singapore's first Chick-fil-A — until early 2026 only the original VivoCity store remained. Inditex gave no reason for the withdrawal; asked by local media, the brand said it had nothing further to share.

The last store closed on 22 February 2026, ending twenty years of Pull&Bear in Singapore; returns were redirected to Zara at VivoCity. The exit fits Inditex's global streamlining — 132 store closures in the nine months to 31 October 2025, framed as streamlining operations for long-term profitability. Sister brands Bershka and Stradivarius had already left Singapore.

Why it happened

  • Inside a group that optimises globally, a market that never grew past four stores had no claim on investment.
  • Inditex's streamlining program cut weak formats and markets first; a one-store operation cannot carry a country's overhead.
  • Sister brands' earlier exits showed the group had already written Singapore off as a multi-brand market.

The lesson

Inside a group that optimises globally, small markets live on borrowed time. Pull&Bear peaked at four Singapore stores; when Inditex streamlined, exits came store by store until none was left.

Aftermath

The VivoCity unit was left to be re-let, and Singapore's Inditex footprint narrowed — Bershka and Stradivarius had already exited, leaving Zara to carry the group's name. Globally Inditex kept closing stores in the name of long-term profitability, with 5,527 stores remaining as of late 2025.
