Natus Medical Incorporated (dba Excel-Tech Ltd/Xltek), based in Oakville, Ontario, recalled the Embletta MPR PG — a device used for sleep studies — in eight lots, catalogue number 2003011. Health Canada published the notice (identification RA-82736, recall date September 24, 2026) on October 6, 2026, classified as a Type II health product recall and aimed at healthcare users.

The fault: on some Embletta MPR devices, the unit cannot correctly format its internal memory. When that happens, previously recorded studies may remain on the device and may be updated with incorrect patient information from a subsequent study. The issue may also stop studies from starting or end recordings prematurely, leaving diagnostic data incomplete or unavailable; in some cases users cannot download previously recorded studies at all.

Customers cannot correct the memory-formatting issue through normal device operation, and Health Canada noted there is currently no workaround. The regulator flagged the possible consequences: incorrect patient information associated with a study, loss of diagnostic data, delays in diagnosis, or the need to repeat patient testing. Healthcare customers were told to contact the manufacturer for additional information.

Type II recall RA-82736 of eight lots; studies may need repeating and diagnosis may be delayed

A memory-formatting fault in a reusable diagnostic device can silently attach one patient's study to another patient's record.

There is no workaround: users cannot fix the formatting through normal operation, so affected units keep the risk until addressed by the manufacturer.

Failed, truncated or undownloadable recordings force patients to repeat studies and delay diagnosis.

In a reusable diagnostic device, a storage bug is a patient-safety bug: records that persist across patients can silently attach one person's study to another person's chart.

The recall is classified Type II (RA-82736) with a recall date of September 24, 2026, and was published by Health Canada on October 6, 2026. Eight lots of the Embletta MPR PG are listed. The notice is addressed to healthcare audiences, who were directed to contact Natus for additional information.
