French streetwear group Kaki Crazy enters judicial restructuring after 38 years

What happened
Kaki Crazy is a Breton retail group founded in Rennes in 1987, built up over four decades into 27 stores — 16 of them in Rennes — with around 200 full-time-equivalent staff. Its banners, Scott, Bluebox, Quarter Back and Crazy Republic, dressed western France in workwear and urban fashion: Carhartt, Levi's, Wrangler, The North Face, Flotte.
The group ceased payments on March 27, 2025, and on April 2 the Rennes Commercial Court placed it into judicial restructuring (redressement judiciaire). The pressures named in coverage were familiar to every high-street landlord's tenant: rising commercial rents, declining purchasing power and e-commerce competition. A restructuring began, and stores judged unprofitable were marked for closure.
In Nantes the reckoning arrived street by street. The Quarter Back shop in the Beaulieu shopping centre was gone by May 2025. Then, in early January 2026, Crazy Republic — the group's multi-brand streetwear address at 11 rue du Calvaire, part of the city's retail landscape for over fifteen years — shut briefly and reopened on January 7 for a total liquidation sale, its window carrying the bluntest message in retail: 'Tout doit disparaître'.

In a region where the group had once employed around 200 people across 27 stores, streetwear shoppers were left with the clearance racks and the memory of a local institution.
