Baroque's HeRIN.CYE loses its stores — a six-year brand licensed out to an unnamed company
Baroque Japan's womenswear brand HeRIN.CYE, launched July 2020, ends store operations in August 2026; from September a new, unnamed licensee runs it online.

What happened
HeRIN.CYE is a womenswear brand started by Baroque Japan Limited in July 2020. Its presence ran on two stores — Lumine Shinjuku 2 in Tokyo and LUCUA in Osaka — alongside sales through Baroque's SHEL'TTER WEBSTORE.
On 1 July 2026 Baroque announced the end of the brand's store operations: the Lumine Shinjuku 2 shop closed on 2 August and the LUCUA Osaka shop on 17 August. From September the brand moves to a new company operating it under a licence agreement with Baroque; new items are planned for a new online store, while the operating company itself stays undisclosed.
Sales continue in the meantime through the SHEL'TTER WEBSTORE and third-party e-commerce, and Baroque says the brand's worldview and making will stay unchanged. The shape of the change is nonetheless clear: a six-year-old brand has lost its physical floors and now runs from outside the house, under licence.
Why it happened
- Baroque gave no reason — but a brand moved from the owner's stores to an unnamed licensee has left the centre of the portfolio.
- Two stores were the whole physical footprint; small enough to cut with two closing dates.
- Licensing keeps the name alive while handing over the floor and the customer relationship.
The lesson
When the owner licenses out its own brand, the stores go first: Baroque closed HeRIN.CYE's Lumine and LUCUA shops and handed the label to an unnamed licensee — a six-year brand now run from outside.
Aftermath
From September 2026 HeRIN.CYE is operated by an undisclosed licensee under a licence agreement with Baroque, with new items planned for a new online store. SHEL'TTER WEBSTORE continues sales through the transition.
