Dough Store, Australia's luxury sneaker reseller, shuts stores amid unfulfilled orders

Dough Store was a Melbourne reseller of the sneakers hype culture runs on — Nike, Jordan, Yeezy, Travis Scott collaborations, Essentials — moving scarce pairs at up to A$1,200. In May 2025 it abruptly shut its physical stores, in Port Melbourne and on the Gold Coast, having recently rebranded as DS Sneakers. The closure was not the problem by itself. The problem was what it left behind: customers who had paid for shoes that never arrived.

Buyers describe a pattern: pay for a scarce pair, get told it was held in customs or lost in transit, then hear nothing. Steven West paid A$785 for Nike sneakers on Christmas Eve 2023 and never received them; attempts to recover the money through PayPal and his bank failed. Natasha Archer paid nearly A$600 in January 2024 and received conflicting updates before being told her package was lost. Dozens of online complaints point to a broad breakdown in order fulfilment, and Consumer Affairs Victoria confirmed it had received reports.

Owner Jay Edwards-Kloss said the store had never considered walking away or liquidating and was fully committed to making things right, acknowledging it was working through delayed orders and delayed refunds. The business continues online with a skeleton staff. The episode lands as the sneaker-resale boom cools — a model that only works while the scarce thing actually arrives.
