Bijouterie Galand ran four generations on rue Gambetta, then shut after 101 years

Bijouterie Galand was a family jeweller on rue Gambetta in the centre of Toul, a dynasty of jewelers that traced its craft back to 1890 and had kept a shop at the same address since around 1925. In its final years it was run by the fourth generation: Nicole Galand, who had worked in the shop for 62 years, alongside her children Marie-Pierre and Renaud.

In May 2026 the family announced the definitive closure of the business. The stated trigger was macroeconomic: the surge in the price of gold was precipitating the closure of historic jewellers, and the Galand store was among them. A stock liquidation began on 23 May and ran until the door finally closed.

On 30 June 2026, after 101 years in the same street, the shop shut for good. The liquidation had sold nearly everything — on the last day only eight watches, eight coloured necklaces, three chains, a pair of earrings, a few rings and some birth gifts remained. A potential buyer was said to be in the running, but nothing was signed.
