Anker PowerConf S3: a recall that burned two years after the notice
Battery fire risk pulled 13 months of sales into a 2024 recall; in Jun 2026 an unreturned unit burned an office. Free replacement; CAA re-warned users.

What happened
Anker Japan recalled the PowerConf S3 speakerphone (A3302, gray and navy) on April 3, 2024 — every unit sold between April 1, 2023 and March 15, 2024 — because the battery can overheat and catch fire. The Consumer Affairs Agency listed it the next day; owners return the unit in a fireproof kit for a free replacement.
On June 8, 2026, more than two years into the recall, one of the unreturned units set fire to itself and its surroundings in an office; the fire alarm raised the alert. The cause is under investigation and its link to the recall defect is unconfirmed, but the agency used the fire to re-warn owners: stop using it, contact Anker.
A recall is only as wide as the returns it collects — the unit that burned was one the notice never reached.
