What happened

Romantei recalled its Kumasan no Choco Monaka on July 30, 2026 — the bear-shaped chocolate wafers may contain walnut, an allergen the raw materials do not include and the label does not name.

The remedy is refund and collection. No incident was reported.

A bear-faced snack carrying the one nut a parent checks the label for.

Why it happened

  • Undeclared walnut in Kumasan no Choco Monaka — recalled 30 Jul 2026; refund and collection
  • The walnut is contamination, not recipe — the label tells the truth about the ingredients and lies about the food
  • The bear's face sells the snack to children — the audience a parent checks the label for

The lesson

Shared lines leave shared traces. When walnut rides into a product whose recipe never asked for it, the label is only as true as the last cleaning of the line that made it.
