Shueisha paused print on MORE, the fashion monthly it ran for 48 years
Cut to quarterly in 2023, suspended with the Autumn 2025 issue — the brand survives as the regional project MORE JAPAN.

What happened
MORE, the women's fashion magazine Shueisha launched in 1977 for readers in their twenties, paused its print edition with the Autumn 2025 issue, released September 26, 2025. The announcement came without warning; the publisher said only that publication was being suspended in preparation for future developments. It had been on the newsstand for 48 years.
The writing had been visible in the frequency: once a monthly, MORE had already dropped to four issues a year with its September 2023 issue. The brand does not disappear — the regional-revitalisation project it ran becomes MORE JAPAN by Shueisha, spreading its content across the publisher's magazines, web media and social accounts. The print magazine itself simply stops.
Why it happened
- A monthly aimed at women in their twenties had already thinned to four issues a year; the print edition no longer carried its own weight.
- The brand's future lay in regional content distributed through Shueisha's other channels, which do not need a standalone magazine to reach readers.
The lesson
Frequency cuts are a magazine's last honest signal — a title that falls from monthly to quarterly has already lost its economics, and suspension only follows through.
Aftermath
The MORE brand continues as MORE JAPAN by Shueisha, with regional content distributed through the publisher's magazines, web media and social channels. No return of the print edition has been announced.
