Khong Guan's rice balls: peanut in the sesame filling
Undeclared peanut in black-sesame glutinous rice balls — both varieties recalled 15 Jul 2026 across Texas and beyond. A trap for the peanut-allergic.

What happened
Khong Guan Corporation of Union City, California recalled its Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling on July 15, 2026 — and the same day expanded the recall to the Black & White variety — because the product may contain undeclared peanut.
The rice balls sold in Texas and other states. For a peanut-allergic buyer, a sesame dessert carrying hidden peanut is a trap at the freezer case. No illness was reported.
A dessert recalled in the US for the allergen its filling never named.
Why it happened
- Undeclared peanut in black-sesame glutinous rice balls — recall and same-day expansion, Jul 15, 2026; sold in Texas and beyond
- The expansion landed with the recall — the first notice already missed a variety
- A dessert bought for one allergy profile carries another allergen inside — the filling's fine print is the hazard
The lesson
Allergen labels are the contract at the freezer case. When the recall and its expansion ship on the same day, the first notice was already incomplete — and the buyer reads both too late.
