Golden Link's theater cups: button cells a child can open and swallow
Fantastic Four cups and Captain America popcorn helmets: accessible button cells, no Reese's Law labels. 55,350 recalled; refund on disposal photo.
Golden Link · 2026-07-30
What happened
Golden Link of Middletown, New York sold Fantastic Four Invisible Woman and Human Torch drinking cups (about $15, March–April 2025) and Captain America popcorn helmet containers (about $30, February–August 2025) through AMC, Cobb, Harkins and other movie theaters — about 55,350 units.
The LED lights run on button cells a child can access, an ingestion hazard that can cause internal chemical burns and death; the products also lack the warning labels Reese's Law requires. The CPSC recalled all 55,350 on July 30, 2026; no incidents reported.
The remedy is a refund of the purchase price upon a photo proving disposal. The souvenir of a movie night carries the battery that law was written for.
Why it happened
- Button cells accessible to children — ingestion can cause internal chemical burns and death; no Reese's Law warning labels; recalled Jul 30, 2026
- 55,350 cups and popcorn helmets sold at movie theaters in 2025 — the concession stand sold the battery hazard with the ticket
- The refund needs a disposal photo — the popcorn helmet's second life is evidence in an inbox
The lesson
Reese's Law is written in swallowed batteries — a licensed cup with an open cell brings the hazard to the concession stand, where the customer is a child with a ticket.
