Fordel Solutions, Fukuoka mail-order company, bankrupt after its founder died in 2026

Fordel sold ¥1.6B a year of health foods and apparel online — competition cut sales, and when the founder died in 2026, so did the company.

Fordel Solutions (株式会社FORDELソリューションズ) · 2026-07-13

What happened

Fordel Solutions was an internet mail-order company in Fukuoka selling health foods, cosmetics, apparel and daily goods, founded in 2013. Sales exceeded ¥1.6 billion in the fiscal year ending September 2017, and the company also developed EC systems for other businesses.

Competition then squeezed the catalog. Sales declined year after year as rivals multiplied — and in April 2026 the company's representative died, after which the business was abandoned.

The operating EC sites were transferred to another company and on 13 July 2026 the Fukuoka District Court issued a bankruptcy commencement order with liabilities of about ¥460 million.

Why it happened

  • The whole company was one person: after the representative died in April 2026 nobody could or would continue, and the business was abandoned within weeks.
  • A catalog with no moat: health foods and daily goods are commodity mail-order, and sales slid for years as competition intensified after the 2017 peak.
  • No successor, no exit: the sites were handed to another company and the debts to the court — a business with ¥1.6B in sales ended as a ¥460M bankruptcy.

The lesson

A one-person company dies with its person: Fordel had ¥1.6B in sales and no one to hand them to — when the founder died in April 2026, the company followed in July.

Aftermath

The Fukuoka District Court issued a bankruptcy order for Fordel Solutions on 13 July 2026 with liabilities of about ¥460 million. The company, founded in 2013, ran an internet mail-order business in health foods, cosmetics, apparel and daily goods with sales above ¥1.6 billion in the year ending September 2017, and developed EC systems for other firms. Sales then declined as competition intensified; after the representative died in April 2026 the company transferred its operating EC sites to another firm and proceeded with closing. Reported 30 July 2026.
