Philippine brands cut ties with Mister Supranational 2024 after his 'halfies' remark
A titleholder's comment on mixed heritage set off a backlash, and Longevity Labs, Treehouse and Camou each moved within days to distance themselves.

What happened
Brandon Espiritu, Mister Supranational Philippines 2024, sat inside a web of brand relationships built on his title and his public profile. In June 2026 a remark he shared about people of mixed heritage was read as divisive, and the criticism spread quickly across Philippine social media.
The brands moved within days. Longevity Labs Philippines said it was ending its investor relationship with Espiritu and removing him from its cap table, stating that an apology, however sincere, did not undo the responsibility involved. Treehouse Poblacion said it was taking legal and corporate steps to separate itself. The Camou brand behind Anahao Siargao said it had not been affiliated with him since 2024 and was pulling its materials.
Espiritu deactivated his Instagram account in mid-June and later called the remark arrogant. The brands named no financial figure, but each paid in the same currency: a public line drawn between the business and the face that had been attached to it.
Why it happened
- A titleholder's social profile is the asset the brands were buying, and it turned on them in a single post
- None of the brands could separate the public outcry from the person they had backed, so separation was the only move
- In a tight market a brand's own name is worth more than the tie that stains it, so the exits were near-instant
The lesson
Philippine brands tied their names to a titleholder's profile, and one remark forced every one of them to sever the tie. A brand bet on a person buys the person's next post too.
Aftermath
Longevity Labs removed Espiritu from its cap table, Treehouse began legal separation, and Camou said its affiliation had ended in 2024 as it scrubbed its materials. Espiritu apologised and deactivated his accounts, but the brands' exits had already drawn the line.
