Amorepacific's budget balm overstated its ingredients — MFDS paused its ads for 2 months

Wrong ingredient contents on Amorepacific's ₩3,000 Daiso Trouble Balm page exaggerated its efficacy. Korea's MFDS paused its ads for two months.

What happened

Amorepacific sold a 10ml spot-care 'Trouble Balm' under its Mimo by Mamonde line, priced at about 3,000 won at Daiso.

Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety found the product's detail-page advertising carried incorrect ingredient-content information that exaggerated its efficacy, creating a risk of misleading consumers.

Amorepacific admitted it was a mislabelling error — some ingredient contents were wrongly stated — and denied any intent to deceive.

MFDS suspended the product's advertising business for two months, from 24 November 2025 to 23 January 2026. No fine was imposed, and Daiso Mall voluntarily stopped selling the item during the suspension.

Why it happened

  • A detail page is advertising too, and a wrong number in it is a wrong claim
  • A budget product's whole pitch is affordable efficacy — inflate that and the trust is gone
  • Even a mistake draws a suspension when consumers might be misled

The lesson

A detail page is advertising too. A wrong ingredient-content number reads as a stronger product than the real one, and a company that publishes it answers for the lie even if it calls it a mistake.

Aftermath

MFDS suspended Amorepacific's advertising business for two months from 24 November 2025 over the Mimo by Mamonde Peony-Tinol Trouble Balm, a 10ml item sold at Daiso for about 3,000 won. The product's detail page carried incorrect ingredient-content information that exaggerated its efficacy and risked misleading consumers, in breach of the Cosmetics Act. Amorepacific called it a mislabelling error. No fine was imposed, and Daiso Mall voluntarily stopped selling the item during the suspension period.
