怎么回事
Vestiaire Collective spent 2025 losing the people who defined it. In January the co-founder Fanny Moizant left the resale platform she had helped build in 2009. In October the chief executive Maximilian Bittner departed after seven years at the helm, and the board reached for an insider: Bernard Osta, promoted to CEO.
On 19 March 2026 the reorganisation was formalised. The executive team was restructured to put product and technology at the centre of strategy: Thomas Hezard, previously chief strategy and people officer, became chief product officer; Rémi Bouchez, who had run buyer-experience engineering, became chief technology officer. Both had been with the company more than seven years. The stated agenda was innovation — artificial intelligence in particular — and a better experience across the platform.
The churn landed in a market that had grown harder around Vestiaire. Peer-to-peer resale is now dominated by bigger, faster platforms, and the platforms' economics depend on volume and automation — which is precisely the bet the new structure makes. A founder exit, a hired-gun CEO exit, and then the promotion of long-tenure insiders is the sequence of a company deciding what it is: a product company, not a fashion story.
The case is governance under pressure: three definitions of leadership in fifteen months, each announced as renewal, with the platform's position in resale still being contested underneath.
为什么会这样
- A co-founder exit and a CEO exit inside ten months is a governance event, whatever the press releases call it — the board had to rebuild its centre twice in one year
- Seven years of outside leadership ended without the position being secured against bigger resale platforms — the problem outlasted the manager
- The answer was internal promotion and a product-and-tech restructure: the company stopped hiring fashion credentials and started buying engineering depth
- The AI push is the tell — resale economics now run on automation, and the old playbook of curation and community no longer carries the cost base alone
教训
When a category matures, the pioneer's leadership keeps rotating until the company accepts what the category has become. Vestiaire's churn ended when it stopped running itself like a fashion house.
后来呢
Osta runs the platform with Hezard and Bouchez driving the innovation agenda; the restructure is framed as the start of the next cycle in secondhand fashion. The private company publishes no figures, so the market reads the signals it gets: leadership stability, for now, and a bet that product can do what personality could not.
