A tannery filed for liquidation in the middle of August, after payslips it couldn't honor
Pegaso Spa issued its 43 workers July payslips, then never sent the wage transfers behind them, and filed for liquidation mid-summer with no warning to unions.

怎么回事
Pegaso Spa ran a tannery in Ponte a Cappiano, inside Tuscany's Santa Croce sull'Arno leather district — a cluster that employs about 6,000 people and exports roughly €1.5 billion a year. The company had already run a partial collective-dismissal round in November 2021, a sign the pressure on it was not new.
In July 2025 the pressure caught up with it. Workers stopped working on July 22, and management issued July payslips as normal — but never made the wage transfers those payslips promised. Staff discovered the money simply was not arriving, with no communication to union representatives or to the workforce about why.
On August 6, 2025, in the middle of Italy's August shutdown period, Pegaso formalized a request for judicial liquidation, idling all 43 employees. A regional crisis task force in Tuscany moved to arrange wage-guarantee support, and by late September a framework agreement had been signed covering redundancy pay through the end of 2025, with a possible extension into 2026 if funded.

A payslip is a promise, not a formality — issuing one without the transfer behind it converts a company's cash problem into a trust problem the moment an employee checks their bank account.
后来呢
Tuscany's regional government convened a crisis task force and secured wage-guarantee (cassa integrazione) support for Pegaso's former workforce through the liquidator, with a framework agreement signed September 30, 2025 covering pay through year-end and possible extension into 2026. The tannery itself did not continue operating.
