Torito Mega Millions was sold as Peru's own jackpot — it was tickets to a US draw

April 2026: Indecopi fined Nexlot S/40,370 — 'Torito Mega Millions' was pitched as Peru's never-before-seen lottery; it resold tickets to a US draw.

Nexlot S.A.C. · 2026-04

怎么回事

Nexlot S.A.C. promoted 'Torito Mega Millions' as a national jackpot: a lottery with a 'pozo millonario' that was 'algo nunca antes visto en el Perú' and playable only inside the country. It read as if Peru had gained its own mega-lottery. What customers actually bought was different: a ticket-purchasing service for the US Mega Millions draw.

Indecopi's tribunal found deception on all three fronts. Nexlot did not run any draw — and that was never communicated clearly or prominently. The 'never before seen' claim was false: other operators had offered Peruvians access to the same international prize pool since at least 2021. And the 'Peru only' rule contradicted the fact that people abroad could also play. In Resolution 0027-2026/SDC-INDECOPI of 14 April 2026, confirmed at final administrative instance, Nexlot was fined 7.34 UIT — S/ 40,370 — and ordered to cease the ads in all channels.

The modest fine carried a clean lesson about intermediated products: when you sell access to someone else's game, the nature of the service is the first thing the ad must say. Burying it under national-pride copy turns a reseller into a deceiver.

为什么会这样

  • The ads sold identity — a Peruvian lottery like never before — when the product was a purchasing service for a foreign draw.
  • Every claim had a documented rebuttal: other operators had offered the same pool since 2021, and players abroad could join too.
  • What went unsaid did the deceiving: the intermediary nature of the service was never disclosed clearly or prominently.

教训

When the product is access to someone else's game, say so first. National superlatives cannot cover an intermediary's nature — regulators compare the ad to what customers actually buy.

后来呢

The sanction was confirmed at the final administrative instance; the misleading ads had to stop across all channels. For Peru's market of international-lottery resellers the ruling fixed the disclosure standard: say plainly that you sell access, not the draw.
