INSE's maker refused a recall, so the CPSC begged owners to stop
After nearly two dozen fire reports, INSE's Chinese manufacturers ignored the CPSC's requests for a recall — so the agency issued a public warning instead.

怎么回事
INSE S6P Pro and S6T cordless stick vacuums, sold on Amazon for about $170 from May 2020 to January 2025, carried lithium-ion battery packs that could overheat and ignite — whether the vacuum was charging or in active use. The CPSC logged nearly two dozen reports of the vacuums igniting, melting, smoking or overheating, including at least 10 fires.
Normally a hazard at this scale ends in a negotiated recall. Here it didn't: importer Shenzhen Ainuo Home Furnishings did not agree to an acceptable recall remedy, and manufacturers listed as Shandong Chongtai Xiangmu Guanli and Yichang Haijin Keji did not respond to the CPSC's requests for information or a recall at all.
With no company willing to run a recall, the CPSC issued a direct public warning on May 1, 2025, telling consumers to immediately stop using and dispose of the vacuums through local hazardous-waste procedures — the agency's fallback when the responsible companies won't act.
为什么会这样
- A lithium-ion battery fire pattern that would normally trigger a recall instead met three companies that either refused the CPSC's terms or ignored the agency outright.
- With no cooperating manufacturer, the CPSC's only tool left was a public warning telling owners to throw the product away — a weaker remedy than a recall, reaching fewer of the buyers who need it.
教训
A recall needs a company willing to run one. When none of the three companies behind a product answer the regulator, the result is a warning that reaches fewer owners than a recall would have.
后来呢
As of the warning, none of the three companies had issued a recall or offered refunds. The CPSC's notice remained the only formal remedy available to owners, who had to dispose of the vacuums at their own cost with no compensation offered.
