怎么回事
Dell's lithium-ion laptop battery packs, made with cells supplied by Sony and sold with several notebook lines, could overheat under certain conditions and catch fire — a defect that had already produced viral video and photo evidence of laptops bursting into flame in offices and homes.
In August 2006, Dell voluntarily recalled approximately 4.1 million battery packs — about 2.7 million in the US and another 1.5 million sold internationally. The CPSC described it at the time as the largest recall in the history of the consumer electronics industry. Dell had received six reports of batteries overheating and causing property damage, with no injuries reported.
The same defective Sony cells turned up in other manufacturers' laptops, and Apple, Lenovo, Toshiba and others issued their own related recalls within the following months, making the underlying cell defect an industry-wide event rather than a Dell-specific one.
