Babysense's MaxView: the baby monitor whose parent unit can catch fire
The VBM55RX parent unit's lithium battery can overheat, swell and spark while charging. Stop using, unplug; a free replacement unit after serial check.
Babysense · 2026-03-25
怎么回事
The Babysense MaxView video baby monitor watches a sleeping child; its parent unit, model VBM55RX, carries a lithium-ion battery that may overheat while charging — swelling, melting, smoking or sparking, a fire risk in the room that matters most.
On March 25, 2026, the ACCC issued the recall for units with serial numbers beginning MVRX; incidents connected to the defect had already been reported overseas. MVP serials and the VBMN55RX model are not affected.
The remedy: stop using, disconnect, do not charge; register on the recall site, and a replacement parent unit ships free once eligibility is verified. The monitor that watches the baby needed watching itself.
为什么会这样
- The parent unit's lithium-ion battery may overheat while charging — swell, melt, smoke or spark; ACCC recall Mar 25, 2026, after overseas incidents
- Only MVRX serials are affected — a serial-gated recall, replacement parent unit free after verification
- A baby monitor sits beside a sleeping child's room all night, charging — the defect lives exactly where the product promises vigilance
教训
The product hired to watch over a sleeping child needed a recall to be watched itself — the charging battery is the one part of the nursery left alone all night.
