A kids' nursery-rhyme app served a splash ad about sharing a mistress schedule

Babybus's kids' app showed a splash ad reading 'three women share one husband', from an unreviewed ad SDK. It earned 3.68 yuan; the fine was 300,000.

怎么回事

In March 2025, children's content company Babybus signed a mobile ad network membership agreement with a Shenzhen ad-tech firm, piping its apps' ad inventory through an SDK to a network called Mimeng. Babybus's own staff did not review the content the network's advertisers pushed through that pipe before it appeared on screen.

As a result, its 'Babybus Nursery Rhymes' app — aimed at young children — displayed a splash ad reading, in effect, 'three women share one husband, 500,000 yuan a month in living expenses, each takes a two-day turn'. Parents reported the app in October 2025 saying it opened straight into vulgar ads, some of which led to explicit video content when tapped.

Fuzhou's Cangshan district market regulator ruled the ad violated standards of social decency and, given the audience was mainly young children, caused particular harm. In March 2026 it fined Babybus 300,000 yuan and confiscated the 3.68 yuan the company had earned from the ad network placement — a fine roughly 81,500 times the actual proceeds.

为什么会这样

  • Outsourcing ad inventory to a network SDK without reviewing what came back meant an advertiser's copy reached a children's app screen before anyone at Babybus saw it.
  • The audience made the harm worse than the copy alone suggests: content unremarkable on an adult platform becomes a serious violation on a nursery-rhyme app for toddlers.
  • 3.68 yuan of revenue against a 300,000 yuan fine states the regulator's intent plainly — the penalty for endangering children was never sized to the money involved.

教训

Babybus let an ad SDK push unreviewed ads onto its kids' app, and one splash ad turned explicit. It earned 3.68 yuan and was fined 300,000 — an unreviewed feed is still the app's own content.

后来呢

Fuzhou's Cangshan district market regulator fined Babybus 300,000 yuan and confiscated its 3.68 yuan in ad proceeds. Parent complaints about vulgar splash ads, first reported in October 2025, had continued for months before the fine.
