Kockums' influencer pan video carried no ad marking
A Matgeek YouTube video cooking steak leant on a Kockums pan with removable handle and never said it was an ad — RO ruled it breached two identification rules.

What happened
A roughly two-minute YouTube video by influencer Johan Hedberg, known as Matgeek, showed him cooking a perfect entrecote. A Kockums pan with a detachable handle featured prominently throughout the video.
The video gave no indication that it was advertising. There was no clear ad marking visible to the viewer.
The Reklamombudsmannen found the video was advertising for Kockums Jernverk shown without proper identification. It breached Article 7 of the ICC Code, which requires commercial communication to be clearly identifiable as such, and Article 18, which sets out how influencers must mark commercial content.
Why it happened
- A product placed front and centre in a cooking video read as authentic content, not a paid plug
- The influencer's credibility was the ad unit, and the audience was never told
- No marker meant the commercial purpose was invisible to the viewer
The lesson
An endorsement is advertising the moment a product is the point of the video. If the viewer would not know it is a paid placement, the advertiser has not marketed — it has hidden.
Aftermath
The Reklamombudsmannen found the video was advertising without clear identification, breaching Articles 7 and 18 of the ICC Code. Kockums' product placement had been presented as ordinary content.
