What happened
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, an action film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, was produced by Pooja Entertainment and AAZ Films. Its total budget, including actor and director fees and marketing, was reported at ₹350 crore — among the highest ever for a Hindi film.
Released on Eid, April 11, 2024, the film grossed only ₹102.16 crore worldwide, with ₹70.44 crore in India (₹59.17 crore nett). Bollywood Hungama declared it a flop, and the Indian Express reported Bollywood was staring at a combined ₹250 crore loss for it and the simultaneously released Maidaan.
The failure was compounded by the film's extraordinary cost: the reported ₹120 crore production budget alone was the highest for an Akshay Kumar film to date. The film could not sustain its opening and collapsed in its second week.
