What happened
On May 19, 2026, Stockholm District Court approved bankruptcy filings from Aike Media AB and its wholly owned subsidiary Collabs AB, a platform connecting brands with social media influencers. Aike Media was a publicly listed micro-cap on the Spotlight Stock Market, with offices in Stockholm and Denmark.
The company said it had been operating under sustained liquidity pressure and, despite running an influencer-marketing platform with established customer relationships, could not raise the working capital needed to keep paying suppliers, partners and staff. Bankruptcy petitions filed by former employees further narrowed the window to find alternative financing before the company had to file itself.
Aike Media's share (AIKE B) was delisted from the Spotlight Stock Market the day after the filing, on May 20, 2026, wiping out the holdings of thousands of small shareholders who had bought into the platform as a public Nordic growth stock.
Why it happened
- A platform business with real customer relationships still needs working capital to bridge running campaigns and getting paid — Aike had the demand side but not the cash runway to service it.
- Being publicly listed while thinly capitalized meant the cash crunch became former employees' bankruptcy petitions before it became rescue financing — creditors moved faster than any turnaround.
- A micro-cap growth stock in a hype sector like influencer marketing concentrated the fallout on retail shareholders who had the least ability to absorb a total loss.
The lesson
A platform with real customers and real revenue can still go bankrupt overnight if it never built the cash buffer to survive a liquidity squeeze — demand doesn't substitute for a balance sheet.
Aftermath
Aike Media AB and Collabs AB both entered bankruptcy proceedings under Stockholm District Court. The Aike Media share was delisted from the Spotlight Stock Market on May 20, 2026. Swedish business press (Breakit, MFN/Cision) covered the filing and the shareholder losses.
