Tiger Tiger opened in 1998 in Haymarket House, an eight-storey building in London's West End, and became the city's flagship superclub: 18,000 square feet, a capacity of 1,700, four dance floors and five bars with a different genre on each floor. Branches followed, including Cardiff and Leeds.
The model aged badly. The flagship reportedly ran at a loss for years amid London's declining nightlife economy, and the Leeds branch closed in 2018. The brand increasingly relied on tourist nights out rather than the dance-music crowds it was built for.
In October 2024 the flagship closed after 26 years, with the last song 'Impala' by Gheist. A planning application to Westminster Council proposed converting Haymarket House into a 507-room hotel; Novus Leisure thanked customers 'for years of incredible memories.' The dance floor lost to the planning application.
